Water Street Tavern & Inn is the easternmost tavern in the continental United States, located in a historic waterfront building in downtown Lubec, Maine. Originally built in the 1800s, the building has been completely rejuvenated with care and respect for its history. Read more about the renovations on our About Us page.
Whether staying one night, a week, or more, guests will find a cozy, comfortable place full of Down East character, with views of the working waterfront, bay islands, seals, eagles, and the surrounding waters.
While the building keeps much of its historic character, modern comforts include private baths in all rooms, TV, Wi-Fi, and the use of a refrigerator in the common room.

This waterfront suite offers beautiful sunrise views over Campobello Island and the International Bridge. The two-bedroom suite features a king bed in one bedroom and a queen bed in the other, both with plush mattresses and deluxe pillows for a comfortable night’s sleep. With a full kitchen, washer and dryer, linens, and cookware provided, it offers the comforts of home so you can settle in with ease.
The suite has the charm of an old-style loft or attic retreat. Accented in shades of red, white, and blue, this quaint space is well suited for a small group or family. The woodwork is made from locally cut and planed native white pine, while the original floors add character with their varied widths and woods.
The suite also offers two waterfront decks for outdoor seating and relaxation. Entry requires steps. Amenities include TV, Wi-Fi, a ceiling fan, and a thermostat-controlled fireplace.

Located on the second floor of the Water Street Tavern & Inn, this room sleeps two and has a king-size bed with a plush mattress and deluxe pillows that provide guests with a luxurious night’s sleep. Room enjoys views of the Narrows and International Bridge to Campobello Island, NB, Canada. The room accommodations also include separate sitting area with television, WiFi, high-speed internet, ceiling fan and private bath.
The Tavern Gathering Room is also available for guests staying in this room and includes a microwave and small refrigerator.

Tavern Gathering Room
The Gathering Room at Water Street Tavern & Inn is a shared space reserved for guests staying in our Tavern Rooms 1, 2, 3, and 4. Wi-Fi is available, along with a small refrigerator and microwave.
The large, rustic wooden harvest table and kitchenette offer guests a place to gather with family and friends. Or you can simply curl up with a good book, pausing now and then to watch the comings and goings of the working waterfront through one of the large bay-view windows.
Please note: The Gathering Room is non-smoking, and we are unable to accommodate pets.
